RECENT PHOTOGRAPHY FROM MICHAEL FLORES
Michael Flores’s photography appears in recent issues of Dossier Journal and Spin. Flores shot up-and-coming singer Azealia Banks for the Summer 2012 issue of Dossier. He followed British singer/songwriter Charli XCX for Spin’s May/June 2012 issue.
The Dossier shoot came together after Flores met Banks in January of this year. After the two collaborated on the idea of capturing Banks as a creative character, Flores approached Dossier with the idea for the story. The magazine’s Associate Creative Director, Alec Friedman, loved the idea and Flores’ references. The shoot took place at stylist Moses Moreno’s loft in Soho.
Flores followed Charli XCX for her first US Shows for the Spin piece “36 Hours with Charli XCX.” Flores shot highlights of the singer/songwriter over the course of a weekend. He was already a fan of her music and says “It was nice because not only was I able to get some really beautiful and vulnerable images of Charli but I was also able to get to know her on a more intimate level than most of my music and celebrity portrait subjects.”
The Summer 2012 issue of Dossier and the May/June issue of Spin are on newsstands now.
